A Midwest mural with a mid-century vibe.
This is an homage to our roots, featuring nostalgic nods to the Southern Indiana farm we worked on and the rural environment we explored.
We were students of the small pond behind our home. One side cooled and watered the cows and the other side had a dense network of cattails. A constant chorus of croaks and chirps came from the reeds, where the rattley trill of the red-winged blackbird was etched in our minds. We’d try to guess the size of the bullfrogs by the pitch of their ribbits.
Standing guard over the pond were several Sycamores, our go-to climbing trees. In the colder months, their bone white branches shone through the grey woods.
At night, the city lights couldn’t reach us, making lightning bugs look like glitter against the blackened tree lines.
