The 45-foot mural was applied to the back of the big video screen near the Monon Greenway. For a good selfie vantage point, visitors can stand across the street on a sidewalk graphic we designed as a supplemental piece.

We were inspired by vintage travel postcards that welcome visitors and promote local tourism. Our goal was to create engaging public art, but also creatively represent what makes the City of Carmel a welcoming draw for residents and visitors alike. Vignettes feature Carmel’s architecture, parks, art scene and entertainment culture inside the letterforms and oversized postage stamps.

Here’s a video of the illustration and installation process.
